I love summer. I simply do. It is hot here in Colorado, my dear garden is my happy place, the kids have simpler schedules, and we are making some homemade ice cream!
With the joys of summer comes distractions. As I was sitting here working the other day I started to tune into what was going on around me. Was that two different sets of music playing on two different speakers? The mixer was running as banana bread was being made and there are some cool teen discussions happening around me. Yes, I am that worker that can tune out everything around me and work. Five kids and my deep desire to finish books taught me that early on. However, summer can be a little, let’s just say unscheduled and a tad chaotic.
That being said we still need to work in the summer and income needs to be made!
Perhaps we can establish a dedicated workspace. Designate an area specifically for work, preferably away from common areas and distractions. This will help create a mental separation between your personal and professional life, enhancing your ability to concentrate. I am no good at this but have a lot of friends who do this well. 😊
Create a schedule and set clear goals for each day. Prioritize your tasks and allocate specific time blocks for different activities. I do this for my kids too. They so happily wake up to their to-do list that need to be done when they are not working their “regular” jobs.
Take regular breaks and make the most of the summer weather. Incorporate short periods of outdoor time into your schedule to recharge and enjoy the season. For me this is some afternoon swim time. I love the pool and I love laps. I have decided in my schedule I am willing to work at night some to make up for some ☀️ time I need!
These are just a few ideas we can use in the summer. By implementing these strategies, you can create an environment conducive to focus and productivity while working from home during the summer months.
Fall will be here before we know it and my schedule loving heart will like that also but let’s make summer what it is which can hold lots of fun and adventures!
