Working from home for so many of us has changed how we work and what kind of help we need to move our business forward. Having an assistant that isn’t in our physical space can at times be a hard concept to wrap our heads around. How does that work? How do I know for sure that my assistant is doing the work I need them to do? What is the best way to communicate with them and how does this process start anyway? Know that this is a path that can be taken one step at a time!
I hear these questions many times as I talk with client and acknowledge some of the fear that plays a part in these decisions. Here is a list of ideas to make this a smoother process:
🏔 Clear Communication: Virtual assistants are there to understand and respond to the tasks that are assigned to them. One of the easiest ways to do this is to have a good project management system with good processes documented.
🏔 Start Simple: Begin with straightforward tasks to get accustomed to how the virtual assistant works. As you become more comfortable, you can gradually move on to more complex tasks.
🏔 Privacy and Security: This is important to your business. Start with using a software such as LassPass to share passwords.
🏔 Experiment and Learn: It is good every so often to have regular reviews with your virtual assistant. Ask them how they are doing and what tasks that you give them to do they like the best. This will help you to know how to get more help from them and feed into their strengths.
🏔Feedback and Corrections: A good virtual assistant will be open to feedback. They will want to do a good job and truly help your business. Also be open to hearing them as they work through your tasks they may have different ways to approach tasks that you hadn’t thought of.
Having a virtual assistant can change your life…for the better!
